How to use Polar test cards
Polar keeps testing on a separate server rather than a toggle inside the live account. Sign in at the sandbox address, create an organisation and products there, and generate a sandbox access token; production tokens do not work against the sandbox API, and the other way round. Because Polar is the merchant of record, this separation is what keeps test orders out of your real financial records.
Open a checkout for a sandbox product and pay with the card above using any future expiry and any three-digit CVC. The order, the subscription if there is one, and the webhooks all behave as they would live.
Polar documents one card for the sandbox. Card processing runs on Stripe underneath, so other entries from the Stripe test card list will often produce the expected decline or 3D Secure behaviour, but only the successful card is guaranteed by Polar.
Testing an affiliate programme on Polar
With a sandbox checkout working, the referral test is one more step: click a referral link, buy with the card above, and confirm the order arrives credited to the affiliate. Refgrow connects to Polar, reads order and subscription events, attributes them through the referral cookie or a discount code, and credits commissions automatically. How the Polar integration works.
